Mission Statement:  “To Inspire Youth In The Roanoke Valley To Achieve Excellence Through Academics And Athletics”

We provide young people in the Roanoke Valley community and beyond a chance to spend time around individuals (former college and professional athletes) who have accomplished success at the highest levels of education and sports during the You Can Too football camp.

Our goal is to use this experience as a catalyst that inspires a community – individuals, families, and donors –  to come together in support of the youth of the area, by helping them see the possibilities. We fundamentally believe that it is not where you start but where you finish.

Founder Cedric Jones is proof that dreams can come true, a star athlete from Weldon High who had a nine-year career in the NFL. Our goal is to provide scholarships for the next generation of student/student-athletes, encouraging them to believe they can do it too!

Who is Cedric Jones?

Cedric’s story begins in Weldon, NC, where he was a member of the 1978 Class of Weldon High School.

While a student at Weldon High School, Cedric was a member of the National Honor Society, the Who’s

Who of America High School Students and served as Treasurer, Vice President and President of the Student

Council. He was also Vice President of the North Carolina Eastern District of Student Councils.

Cedric participated in football, basketball, baseball and track for four years at Weldon High School. He was

selected all-conference in each sport his senior year. His football jersey was retired. Cedric went on to earn a

football scholarship to Duke University.

While at Duke, Cedric was selected the top scholar athlete in his class, received the President’s Senior

Leadership award and was Captain of the 1981 Blue Devils’ football squad. His senior season, Cedric was

selected Duke’s Most Valuable Football Player, All-ACC, and All-America. In 1982, Cedric graduated from

Duke University with a degree in History. In 2004, Cedric was inducted into the Duke University Sports Hall

of Fame. He was recently named one to the 50 Greatest Players in Duke Football history.

Upon graduation, Cedric was drafted in the third round by the New England Patriots. Cedric played nine

years in the National Football League and was a member of the 1985 AFC Champion that played in Super

Bowl XX. He was 10 th all-time on the Patriots reception list when he retired.

Jones re-joined the NFL in 1993 as the manager of youth programs, developing programs and marketing

strategies for youth education programs in all NFL cities. Beginning in August 1994, Jones served as senior

manager of club marketing, director of club marketing, director of consumer products, senior director of

consumer products-on field operations and NFL coaches club and senior director of the NFL Youth Football

department.

Upon leaving the league offices, Cedric served as Director of Athletics for the New York Athletic Club. First African-

American to hold that position in the 150 year history of the Club. Currently, Cedric is the Director of Athletics at the

Brunswick School, the number one All-Boys private school in New England.

  • Live your life so you don't look down on anyone, and no one looks down on you.

  • Every time you do something, whether it's in the classroom, on the field or court, or at your job...LEAVE NO DOUBT that you're the best.

  • Ancient African Proverb

Every day in the sun rises in Africa the gazelle wakes up knowing that he has to outrun the fastest lion or else he’ll be eaten. Every day the sun rises in Africa the lion wakes up knowing that he has to catch the slowest gazelle or else he’ll starve.

So what’s the moral of the story…?

Every single day you wake up…you better be RUNNING!

  • Every single day we can make a choice to have a positive impact on someone's life.

  • When making a choice, do the "Mom Test". If your mom saw you doing this, would she be proud of you? If the answer is no, don't do it...
